Dear Ohio Businesses:
Over the past year, businesses have helped determine the jobs that are most in-demand in Ohio. That information drives our state’s daily education and training efforts. In addition, business leaders statewide have expressed that students are not graduating with the professional (or “soft”) skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
To better meet the needs of businesses, the Ohio Department of Education, Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, and Ohio Department of Higher Education have partnered to develop an “OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal”. High school students earn the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal on their transcripts and diplomas by demonstrating professional skills required for success in the 21st century workplace.
Ohio has conducted research to create a preliminary list of professional skills that are believed to indicate a student is “job ready”. Now your feedback is needed and critical! Please help identify the skills you need by filling out the following 15-minute survey. The survey lists the skills that have been identified and asks questions about how important each skill is in your workplace as well as when during employment the skill must be demonstrated. To stay on track to make the seal available for the graduating class of 2018, please complete this survey by October 1st. By taking 15 minutes to fill out this survey, you are helping Ohio create a pipeline of students that are job-ready upon graduation.
Thank you in advance for your support!
